Our Goal

OBCT's primary purpose in producing musicals is to glorify the Lord. We believe that the training and confidence that our cast and crew receive in participating in our musical productions and classes will enable them to be bolder, more effective examples of Christ’s love to each other and the world around them.

Meet the Directors

Amanda Marie Gettinger (Director)  has performed with Lewis Family Playhouse in Secret Garden, La Sierra University Opera in Man of La Mancha, Cendrillion, and The Pirates of Penzance, with Redlands Bowl in Annie, and Christian Arts and Theater in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Amanda has also performed with SCYT in Annie Get Your Gun, Hello Dolly, Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Annie and Honk!  While attending California Baptist University, she performed in the University Choir and Orchestra, Choral Union and the small group "Joy!" as well as a Broadway Revue. She currently teaches group piano for Harrada Elementary, private piano and voice and is the director/production manager for OBCT.   Amanda is extremely grateful for the great blessing and responsibility of directing OBCT. “    . . . .for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14

Nancy Gettinger (Administrative Director/sets & costumes) has been involved with ministry at Olive Branch for the past twelve years and began directing OBCT with Amanda in 2001.  As Technical Director of OBCT, she designs and constructs the sets and costumes for each show. She has a unique creative ability to make a show look completely “new”, which not only enhances the experience for the audience but also gives each performer a personal attachment to their roles.

Jayson Bennett is currently a Senior at California Baptist University, where he is working towards a Bachelors Degree in communications.  A talented Musician and vocalists with an amazing heart for the Lord, Jayson currently  leads worship for California Baptist Universty and Olive Branch Church. Along with assistant directing Jayson also performed in OBCT's "the Wizard of Oz" as the Cowardly Lion.

Makenna Gettinger (graphic designer)  is a Senior in high school at Biola Torrey Academy.  She began piano lessons at age 3 and later added violin, voice, dance and private art lessons.  Makenna has been involved in theater at Olive Branch and with other theater companies for over 10 years.  She has helped choreograph three  of OBCT's Broadway Musicals as well as appearing as Maureen/Queenie in Honk!, Princess Winnifred in The Princess and the Pea,  the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz.  Makenna has also performed with Christian Arts and Theater in Bye Bye Birdie and Oklahoma, and with Southern California Youth Theater in Oklahoma, Hello Dolly, Annie Get Your Gun, Honk! and Annie.

Jonathon Meader is currently a theatre major at California Baptist University in Riverside. A sophmore at CBU, Jon is heavily involved in both the choral and theatre departments, participating in the University Choir and Orchestra, the smal group "Joy" and the production of Suessical. Jon grew-up in Phoenix, Arizona and was extremely involved in the choral community there. In Junior High and until his sophomore year of high school he was in the Phoenix children’s chorus, with which he traveled to Ireland and Germany. During his Junior and Senior years he was a member of the Phoenix Symphony Chorus where he sang with many professional musicians and was directed by some of the top directors in the country. Jon has performed in many musicals including; Barber Shop member in "Music Man," Joseph in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof." Recently Jonathon also played the Mayor of Whoville in "Suessical" and participated in OBCT's production of "Godspell," and most recently appeared as Joseph in OBCT's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Matthew Richey graduated from California Baptist University with his bachelors degree in music, with an emphasis in Vocal Performance.   Matt loves music of all styles, as he feels it is an amazing gift from God, and he hopes to be in as many musicals as he can.  Along with assistant directing OBCT's "The Wizard of Oz," he also played the Tinman in OBCT's production and sang the role of the Bullfrog in OBCT's Broadway Revue.  Matt has also performed with Christian Arts and Theater in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and was in an original Broadway Revue at CBU appearing as Crutchy from "Newsies," Danny from "Grease" and Diesel from "West Side Story."

Linda Owens (Conductor/Orchestra Coordinator) graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in Music and a K-12 single subject (music) teaching credential. She also receieved a M.A. in Education from Azusa Pacific University. She taught at the Junion High level for nine years and her music groups receieved scores of excellent and superior at many adjudicated festivals. The last eighteen years have been spent teaching insturmental music at the elementary level and she is currently working in the Ontario-Montclair School District. She was the first director of Olive Branch's children's choir, taught music classes for summer cmap at O.B.C.A. and directed the chapel and mini musicals for many Vacation Bible School programs. The Lord has opened several doors for Linda in the area of music. She is conducting the orchestra for OBCt productions & is currently conducting the SOZO Big Band, a local Jazz Band that started at OBCC. Linda is a tremendous Blessing to OBCT and under her direction the OBCT orchestra has grown tremendously.
